Description
Stick Archer Duel is a two-dimensional projectile-based combat game developed by a small independent studio. The game features minimalist stick figure characters engaged in turn-based archery matches. Each match consists of a single player controlling an archer on one side of a static arena, facing an opponent controlled by either a local human player or an artificial intelligence. The core objective is to be the first to land a set number of successful hits on the opposing archer. The visual presentation is deliberately sparse, with flat colors, simple geometric backgrounds, and no detailed textures. The game focuses entirely on the physics of arrow trajectory, wind conditions, and angle calculation. Sound effects are limited to the twang of the bowstring, the impact of arrows, and a brief victory jingle. The game offers no narrative, character progression, or unlockable content. It is designed for short, repetitive sessions of skill-based competition. The title is available on web browsers and mobile platforms.
Instructions
Gameplay is structured around alternating turns. A player begins their turn by adjusting the angle of their bow using a vertical slider or directional input. The player then selects a power level for the shot using a horizontal power bar that oscillates back and forth. The shot is released by tapping a fire button or releasing the power input. The arrow then travels across the screen in a parabolic arc, influenced by a static wind indicator displayed at the top of the arena. The opposing archer remains stationary during the shot. After the arrow lands or misses, control passes to the opponent. The game ends when one archer’s health bar, represented by a series of segments, is depleted. On mobile devices, the player controls the bow angle by dragging a finger on the left side of the screen and adjusts power by dragging on the right side. On desktop, the player uses the mouse to click and drag on the bow to set the angle, then clicks and holds to charge power before releasing to fire. The keyboard arrow keys can also be used for angle adjustment, with the spacebar used to fire. There is no pause function during a match.
