Description
Arrow Clash is a two-dimensional projectile-based combat game developed by independent studio Red Pine Games and released in 2023. The game is set in a medieval fantasy arena where two opposing archers compete in a series of duels. The primary objective is to eliminate the opponent by striking them with arrows while avoiding incoming projectiles. The arena is a flat, rectangular field with static obstacles such as wooden barriers and stone pillars that provide partial cover. Each match consists of multiple rounds, and a player wins by securing a predetermined number of round victories. The game supports both single-player mode against an artificial intelligence opponent and local multiplayer mode for two human players. The visual style employs a minimalist pixel art aesthetic with a muted color palette, emphasizing clarity of movement and projectile trajectories. Sound design includes distinct audio cues for arrow releases, impacts, and environmental interactions. The game does not include a narrative campaign or character progression system; all gameplay is focused on direct competitive skill.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are structured around precise timing and spatial awareness. Each player controls an archer character that can move horizontally across the arena floor and jump vertically. The character cannot move while drawing a bow. The primary action is firing an arrow, which is performed by pressing and holding the fire button to charge the shot. The arrow’s trajectory is determined by the angle of the bow, which is adjusted using the vertical aim control. The arrow travels in a parabolic arc affected by gravity. A fully charged shot travels faster and farther than a partially charged one. Players can also perform a quick shot by tapping the fire button without charging, resulting in a weaker, shorter-range projectile. Defensive actions include a dodge roll performed by pressing the dodge button, which grants brief invulnerability frames. The character can also crouch behind low obstacles to reduce hitbox exposure. Ammunition is unlimited; there is no resource management for arrows. The interface displays a health bar for each player, a round counter, and a timer for each round. The game ends when one player’s health reaches zero. Controls are mapped to a keyboard or gamepad, with the left stick or directional keys for movement, the right stick or vertical keys for aim, and dedicated buttons for fire, dodge, and jump.
