Description
Starfield Connect Four is a digital adaptation of the classic two-player connection game, re-themed within the science fiction setting of the Starfield universe. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and released as a free mini-game included with the Starfield: Shattered Space expansion, the title replaces the traditional yellow and red checkers with stylized tokens representing the two major factions of the Settled Systems: the United Colonies (UC) and the Freestar Collective. The game board is rendered as a holographic projection, featuring a metallic grid and subtle ambient lighting effects consistent with the art direction of the parent title. The objective remains unchanged: players take turns dropping a token into one of seven columns on a six-row vertical grid, aiming to be the first to align four of their own tokens in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. The game supports local multiplayer for two human players and includes a single-player mode against an AI opponent with three difficulty levels: Recruit, Veteran, and Legendary. No online multiplayer functionality is present. The game is accessed via a dedicated terminal in the player’s ship or outpost, and does not require an active internet connection to play.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are executed entirely through the standard Starfield interface. To begin a match, the player interacts with the Starfield Connect Four terminal and selects either Local Multiplayer or Single Player. In single-player mode, the player chooses a difficulty for the AI opponent. The player controlling the UC faction always moves first. On a controller, the player uses the left thumbstick or D-pad to move a highlighted cursor left or right across the top of the seven columns. Pressing the A button drops the current player’s token into the selected column. The token falls to the lowest available empty row within that column. The turn then passes to the opposing player or the AI. On a keyboard and mouse, the player moves the cursor by moving the mouse left or right over the column headers, and clicks the left mouse button to drop the token. The game provides a visual indicator of the column currently selected. After a winning alignment of four tokens is achieved, the game highlights the winning line and displays a victory screen. A draw occurs if the board fills completely with no winner. From the victory or draw screen, the player may press the A button or click to return to the main menu to start a new game. No pause function is available during a match. The game does not track statistics or win-loss records across sessions.
