Description
Hex Astral Connection is a single-player puzzle game developed by independent studio Void Prism Interactive, released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game is built around a hexagonal grid system where each tile represents a celestial body or astral node. The objective is to establish a continuous network of connections between these nodes by rotating and aligning their energy pathways. The visual design employs a minimalist aesthetic with a dark space backdrop, where nodes emit soft, color-coded light based on their elemental affinity—fire, water, earth, and air. The game features 120 handcrafted levels organized into twelve constellations, each introducing a new mechanic such as locked nodes, directional gates, or energy sinks. Progression is linear, with later levels requiring simultaneous management of multiple connection paths. The soundtrack is ambient and generated procedurally, responding to the player’s actions. No narrative or character development is present; the focus is entirely on spatial logic and pattern recognition.
Instructions
Gameplay is turn-based and operates through a point-and-click interface. The player interacts with the hexagonal grid using a mouse or touch input. Each hex tile contains a central node with one to three colored lines extending from its edges. The player clicks on a tile to rotate it clockwise by 60 degrees. The goal is to align the lines of adjacent tiles so that they form a continuous, unbroken path from a designated source node to a target node. A connection is established only when two adjacent tiles have matching colored lines touching edge-to-edge. The game provides a limited number of moves per level, displayed as a counter in the upper-left corner. Exceeding this count resets the level. The player can undo a single move by clicking the undo button in the lower-right corner. A hint system, available once per level, highlights one tile that requires rotation. The interface includes a zoom function controlled by the mouse wheel or pinch gesture, allowing inspection of large grids. Levels are selected from a star map menu, with completed levels marked by a glowing icon. No time limit is imposed, and the game does not include a scoring system beyond move count.
