Description
Woodoku Block Puzzle is a mobile puzzle game developed by Lihui Zhu and published by the game studio "Bekids." It combines elements of the classic block puzzle genre with the visual aesthetic of traditional Chinese ink-wash painting, known as "Shuimo" or "Sumi-e." The game was released for iOS and Android platforms. The objective is to place a series of tetromino-shaped blocks onto a 9x9 grid. Blocks are provided in sets of three, and the player must fit them into the grid without overlapping. When a complete row or column of nine squares is filled, that line is cleared, freeing space. The game ends when no more blocks can be placed. The scoring system awards points for each placed block and additional bonuses for clearing multiple lines simultaneously. The game features a minimalist interface with a monochromatic ink-style color palette, typically using black, white, and shades of gray. No timers or time limits are present, allowing for an unrestricted pace. The game includes a daily challenge mode with specific objectives and a classic endless mode. The visual design incorporates brushstroke textures and bamboo-themed elements.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are executed entirely through touch input. The player is presented with a 9x9 grid and three block shapes at the bottom of the screen. To place a block, the player taps and holds a block shape, then drags it to a desired position on the grid. The block snaps to the grid cells. A valid placement requires all cells of the block to be empty. The block cannot be rotated or flipped; it is placed in its given orientation. After placement, the block disappears from the bottom tray, and a new block shape appears to replace it. The player must continue placing blocks until no more shapes can be fitted into the grid. Clearing a row or column occurs automatically when that line is completely filled. The cleared line is visually removed, and the remaining blocks shift to fill the gap. The player can preview the next set of three blocks at the top of the screen. The interface includes a pause button, a restart button, and a score display. No undo function is provided. The game provides haptic feedback on mobile devices for block placement and line clears. The controls are designed for single-handed operation.
