Description
Memorize and Repeat the Shape is a cognitive training application developed for digital platforms, including personal computers and mobile devices. The game is classified as a memory and pattern recognition exercise, designed to assess and improve a user’s short-term visual recall. The core mechanic involves the sequential presentation of geometric shapes, which the player must observe, retain, and then reproduce in the correct order. The game does not feature a narrative, characters, or a persistent world; its structure is purely procedural and abstract. The visual interface is minimal, typically consisting of a grid or a sequence of empty slots, a display area for the target shapes, and a control panel for input. Difficulty scales incrementally, with later levels introducing more shapes, faster presentation speeds, or shapes of increased complexity, such as irregular polygons or rotated forms. The application records performance metrics, including accuracy rate, reaction time, and maximum sequence length achieved. No external rewards or story progression are present; the sole objective is to achieve a higher score through improved memory performance. The game is often used in contexts of cognitive research, educational settings, or personal mental fitness routines.
Instructions
The game begins with a blank grid or a linear sequence of empty cells. A series of shapes is displayed one at a time in a designated preview area. Each shape appears for a fixed duration, typically between one and three seconds, before disappearing. The player must observe the shape and its position within the sequence. After all shapes in the current round have been shown, the preview area becomes inactive. The player must then select shapes from a provided palette or draw them using a pointing device or touch input. Shapes are placed into the empty cells in the exact order they were presented. Input is confirmed by pressing a submit button or by completing the sequence. If the reproduced sequence matches the original in both shape identity and order, the round is considered successful, and the next round with an increased number of shapes begins. If an error occurs, the game displays the correct sequence for review and then resets the current level. The player may restart the session at any time. Controls are limited to selecting shapes via mouse click, touch tap, or keyboard shortcuts mapped to shape types. No pause function is available during the presentation phase, though the player may pause during the input phase. The game ends when the player fails a round or chooses to exit.
