Marine Mahjong

Marine Mahjong is a digital tile-matching puzzle game developed by EnsenaSoft, released in 2011 for Microsoft Windows and later ported to macOS and iOS platforms. The game is a themed variant of the classic solitaire-style Mahjong, distinguished by its underwater setting. The visual presentation features a coral reef backdrop, animated sea creatures such as fish and jellyfish, and tiles decorated with marine life symbols including shells, starfish, and seahorses instead of traditional Chinese characters. The game includes over 200 unique puzzle layouts, each requiring the player to clear a pyramid of stacked tiles. A scoring system awards points for consecutive matches and speed, with a timer adding a layer of challenge. The game supports multiple difficulty levels, adjustable tile sets, and a hint system. Ambient sound effects of ocean waves and bubbling water accompany gameplay. Marine Mahjong is designed for single-player use and does not include multiplayer or online features.

The objective of Marine Mahjong is to remove all tiles from the board by matching pairs of identical tiles. A tile is selectable only if it is not covered by another tile and has at least one adjacent side free of other tiles. The player uses a mouse or touch input to click or tap on a tile to select it, then clicks or taps on a matching tile to remove the pair. If no match is available, the player may use the shuffle button to rearrange remaining tiles, or the hint button to highlight a valid pair. The game provides an undo function to reverse the last move. The timer begins at the start of each puzzle; completing the puzzle before the timer expires awards bonus points. The player can pause the game at any time. The interface includes a score display, a tile count, and a menu for adjusting sound volume and visual settings. No keyboard shortcuts are required; all actions are performed through point-and-click or touch gestures.
