Description
Zombiracer Speed On Earth is a vehicular combat racing video game developed by the independent studio Dead Pixel Games and released in 2023 for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Earth where a viral outbreak has transformed the majority of the human population into aggressive, shambling zombies. Players assume the role of a survivor-pilot who must navigate a series of derelict urban and rural tracks, competing against other racers while fending off hordes of infected creatures that swarm the roadways. The game’s primary objective is to complete laps and reach the finish line first, but the environment is designed to be hostile, with zombies acting as both obstacles and interactive hazards. Vehicles are equipped with mounted weapons, including machine guns, flamethrowers, and spike launchers, which can be used to clear paths or attack opponents. The game features a single-player campaign with a narrative focused on finding a rumored safe zone, as well as a multiplayer mode supporting up to eight players online. The visual style emphasizes gritty realism, with decaying cityscapes, overgrown highways, and dynamic weather effects such as rain and fog that reduce visibility. Sound design includes engine roars, zombie groans, and weapon fire, contributing to an immersive survival atmosphere. The game received mixed reviews for its repetitive track design but was praised for its high-speed chaos and responsive vehicle handling.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are structured around arcade-style racing combined with combat mechanics. The player controls a vehicle using a standard analog stick or directional pad for steering, with the right trigger or accelerator button for forward movement and the left trigger or brake button for slowing down or reversing. The handbrake is assigned to a dedicated button, typically the A or X button on a controller, allowing for sharp drifts around corners. Weapon systems are activated by pressing the right bumper or shoulder button to fire the primary weapon, which has unlimited ammunition but requires a cooldown period after sustained use. A secondary weapon, such as a mine or oil slick, is deployed with the left bumper or shoulder button and has a limited supply that can be replenished by driving over glowing supply crates scattered on the track. The player can also perform a melee attack by pressing the B or circle button, which uses the vehicle’s front bumper to shove zombies or opponents. The camera is fixed behind the vehicle in a third-person perspective, with an option to toggle to a first-person cockpit view. A heads-up display shows speed, lap count, position, weapon cooldown status, and a health bar for the vehicle. Damage from collisions or zombie attacks reduces health, and if it reaches zero, the vehicle explodes and the player respawns at the last checkpoint with a time penalty. The game includes a tutorial mode that explains these controls through a series of short, guided races.
