XO With Buddy is a digital adaptation of the classic two-player paper-and-pencil game known as Tic-Tac-Toe or Noughts and Crosses. The game is designed for two human participants on a single device, eliminating artificial intelligence opponents. The core objective is to be the first player to align three of their assigned marks—either an X or an O—in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row on a 3x3 grid. The game was developed as a straightforward, turn-based strategy application, focusing on the fundamental logic and spatial reasoning inherent to the original game. No additional power-ups, timers, or complex rule variations are included. The interface is minimal, typically presenting a clean grid with a clear indication of whose turn it is. The game concludes when a player achieves three in a row or when all nine squares are filled without a winner, resulting in a draw. The application is intended for casual play, requiring no internet connection or account creation.

Gameplay and controls are initiated by selecting the game from the device's application menu. The game begins with an empty 3x3 grid. Player One is assigned the X mark, and Player Two is assigned the O mark. The current player is indicated by a text label or a highlighted symbol near the grid. To make a move, a player taps or clicks on an empty square within the grid. Once a square is selected, the player's mark (X or O) is permanently placed in that square, and the turn automatically passes to the other player. A square that already contains a mark cannot be selected again. The game does not allow undo or redo functions. After each move, the application checks for a winning condition or a full board. If a player wins, the game displays a message announcing the winner and offers a button to start a new game. If the board is full with no winner, a draw message is shown, along with the option to restart. The only control input is the selection of grid squares and the new game button. No settings menu, sound controls, or difficulty options are present.
