Description

Win Magic & Devil is a turn-based strategy role-playing game developed by Studio Farside and released for Microsoft Windows in 2018. The game is set in a fantasy world where two opposing factions, the Order of Magic and the Legion of the Devil, vie for control over a fractured continent. Players assume the role of a commander who must recruit a party of heroes, each belonging to one of the two factions, and engage in tactical battles on grid-based maps. The narrative unfolds through a series of branching quests, with player choices affecting faction alliances and the availability of characters. The game features a pixel-art visual style with isometric perspective, and its soundtrack is composed of chiptune and orchestral elements. A key mechanic is the alignment system, where a character’s affinity for magic or devil energy determines their available skills and equipment. The game includes a single-player campaign with over 40 missions, as well as a local multiplayer mode for two players.

Instructions

Gameplay is divided into two phases: exploration and combat. During exploration, the player navigates a world map using the mouse to click on locations. The keyboard arrow keys or WASD keys can also move the cursor. Interacting with non-player characters or objects is done by left-clicking. The inventory and party management screens are accessed by pressing the I key or clicking the corresponding icon on the interface. Combat is turn-based and occurs on a hexagonal grid. Each unit has a set number of action points per turn, displayed in the top-left corner of the screen. Movement is performed by left-clicking on an adjacent hexagon; the unit will move to that hex if it has sufficient action points. Attacking an enemy requires the player to left-click on the target hexagon after selecting the attack command from the action bar at the bottom of the screen. The action bar is navigated using the number keys 1 through 6. Special abilities and spells are assigned to the F1 through F4 keys. The player can end a unit’s turn by pressing the Spacebar or clicking the End Turn button. The camera is controlled by holding the right mouse button and dragging, or by using the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. The game provides a tooltip for any highlighted element by hovering the mouse cursor over it for one second.
