Undead Mahjong is a tile-matching puzzle video game that combines traditional Chinese Mahjong solitaire mechanics with a gothic horror aesthetic. The core gameplay involves a standard set of 144 Mahjong tiles, each adorned with symbols such as bones, coffins, bats, and spectral figures instead of the traditional bamboo, characters, and circles. The game’s visual design features a dark, muted color palette with environments depicting crypts, haunted mansions, and graveyards. Background audio consists of low, droning ambient sounds and occasional creaks or howls. The objective is to clear the board by matching pairs of identical tiles, with a focus on strategic removal to prevent deadlock. The game includes multiple layouts, each increasing in complexity, and a scoring system that rewards efficient matching and speed. No narrative or character progression is present; the game functions purely as a logic puzzle with a thematic overlay.

Gameplay and controls are based on the standard rules of Mahjong solitaire. The player is presented with a three-dimensional pyramid of stacked tiles. A tile is selectable only if it is not covered by another tile and has at least one of its left or right edges free. The player must click or tap on two identical tiles to remove them from the board. The game interface displays a timer and a score counter. Controls are limited to a single mouse click or touch input for tile selection. A right-click or a dedicated button allows the player to shuffle the remaining tiles, a feature available a limited number of times per game. An undo function is provided to reverse the last move.
