Description
Triple Shelf Match is a digital puzzle game developed by Noodlecake Studios, released in 2021 for mobile platforms and later ported to PC. The game belongs to the tile-matching genre, specifically a variant of the Mahjong solitaire format. The core objective involves clearing a three-dimensional stack of tiles from a central play area. Each tile displays a distinct icon, such as fruits, animals, or geometric shapes. The player must select three identical tiles to remove them from the board. The game is structured across multiple levels, each presenting a unique arrangement of tiles on a three-tiered shelf. The difficulty increases through the introduction of more complex tile layouts, limited moves, or time constraints. The visual design employs a clean, isometric perspective, with tiles rendered in flat, pastel colors against a neutral background. The game includes a scoring system that awards points for each successful match, with bonuses for consecutive matches or clearing entire shelves. No narrative or character progression exists; the focus remains solely on the puzzle-solving mechanics. The game is available as a free-to-play title with optional in-app purchases for hints, undo functions, or additional level packs.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are centered on the manipulation of a three-tiered shelf. The player interacts with the game exclusively through a pointing device, such as a mouse on PC or a finger on a touchscreen. To begin a level, the player observes the arrangement of tiles on the top, middle, and bottom shelves. The objective is to locate and select three tiles bearing the same icon. A tile is selectable only if it is not covered by another tile from a higher shelf and if at least one of its left or right sides is unobstructed. Selecting a tile highlights it; selecting a second identical tile highlights it as well. Selecting a third identical tile removes all three from the board. If a selection is incorrect, the player can deselect a tile by tapping it again. The game provides a visual indicator of the current selection count. A move counter or timer, depending on the level type, is displayed at the top of the screen. The player may use a hint button to reveal a valid match, or an undo button to reverse the last selection. The game ends when all tiles are cleared, resulting in a level completion, or when no further matches are possible, resulting in a loss. The player can restart a level at any time. The interface includes a pause menu for adjusting sound settings or exiting to the main menu.
