Description
Triangle Dodge is a single-player arcade-style video game developed by an independent studio and released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile devices. The game presents a minimalist geometric arena where the player controls a small, movable triangle. The core objective is to survive for as long as possible while avoiding a growing number of hostile, fast-moving triangular shapes that spawn from the edges of the playfield. The player’s triangle is stationary by default but can be repositioned freely within the bounded square arena. The enemy triangles, which vary in size and speed, move in straight lines and ricochet off the arena walls. The game features a monochromatic color scheme, with the player’s triangle rendered in white and enemy triangles in red. A persistent score counter tracks the duration of survival in seconds. The difficulty escalates over time as the spawn rate and velocity of enemy triangles increase. No power-ups, weapons, or defensive abilities are provided. The game ends immediately upon collision between the player’s triangle and any enemy triangle. The final score is displayed alongside a high-score record stored locally on the device.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based entirely on movement and spatial awareness. The player’s triangle is controlled via directional input. On a personal computer, the arrow keys or the W, A, S, D keys move the triangle up, left, down, and right respectively. On a mobile device, a virtual joystick or touch-and-drag interface allows the player to slide the triangle to any position on the screen. The triangle moves at a fixed speed and cannot accelerate or decelerate. There is no jump, dash, or invincibility mechanic. The player must continuously reposition the triangle to avoid the paths of incoming enemy triangles. Enemy triangles do not track the player; they follow predetermined linear trajectories that change only upon wall collision. The player can observe the direction of each enemy triangle upon its spawn to plan evasive maneuvers. The arena is a static square with no obstacles or safe zones. The game begins immediately upon launch with no menu or pause function. The only action available is movement. The session ends when the player’s triangle touches any red triangle. The score is then displayed, and the player may restart by pressing the spacebar or tapping the screen. No other inputs or settings are available during gameplay.
