Description

Summer Mazes is a puzzle video game released for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game presents a series of labyrinthine environments set within a seasonal summer theme. Each level consists of a two-dimensional, top-down maze constructed from hedges, fences, or sandy paths. The objective is to navigate a player-controlled character from a designated starting point to a single exit marker. The game features a fixed number of levels, typically between 50 and 100, with increasing complexity. Mazes incorporate obstacles such as locked gates requiring collected keys, moving barriers, and one-way passages. The visual aesthetic employs bright, saturated colors and simple geometric shapes, with a consistent palette of greens, yellows, and blues. Background elements include static images of beaches, sunflowers, and ice cream stands. The game includes a timer that records the duration of each completed maze. No narrative or character development is present; the sole focus is spatial navigation and route planning. The game does not include multiplayer, online connectivity, or microtransactions. It is designed for single-player, offline use.

Instructions

Gameplay is controlled through directional input. On a keyboard, the arrow keys or the W, A, S, D keys move the character one grid cell per press. On a touchscreen, a virtual directional pad or swipe gestures perform the same function. The character cannot move diagonally. The player must traverse the maze to reach the exit, which is visually distinct, often marked by a flag or a glowing portal. Collision with maze walls or obstacles stops movement. To open a locked gate, the player must first collect a key, which appears as a small, colored icon within the maze. Keys are consumed upon use. Moving barriers shift position at regular intervals, requiring timing to pass. The game provides no hints or path highlighting. A pause function is available via the Escape key or a dedicated on-screen button, which freezes the timer and allows the player to view the entire maze layout. The timer begins upon entering a level and stops upon reaching the exit. No score is awarded; the only metric is completion time. The player can restart a level at any time without penalty. Progression is linear; completing a level unlocks the next. There is no save system; the game automatically records the highest level reached.
