Description
Spooky Tile Master is a digital puzzle game developed by an independent studio, released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game is categorized as a tile-matching and memory-based puzzle experience, set within a supernatural or haunted house theme. The visual design employs a muted color palette dominated by grays, deep purples, and dark blues, with occasional glowing elements such as candles or spectral lights. The audio design features ambient sounds like creaking floorboards, distant whispers, and low-frequency drones, reinforcing the atmospheric setting without relying on sudden loud noises. The game’s core objective requires the player to clear a grid of tiles by matching pairs or sets based on hidden symbols, with each successful match revealing a fragment of a larger narrative about the house’s history. The game includes multiple levels, each with a unique tile layout and a distinct environmental challenge, such as shifting shadows or temporary visual distortions. Progression is linear, with difficulty increasing through larger grids, more complex symbol sets, and time-limited rounds. The game does not include multiplayer or online leaderboards, focusing instead on a single-player campaign that lasts approximately four to six hours. No microtransactions or advertisements are present in the full version.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are structured around a grid-based tile board displayed on the screen. The player interacts with the game using a mouse or touch input. To begin a round, the player selects a tile by clicking or tapping it, which causes the tile to flip and reveal a symbol. The player then selects a second tile. If the two revealed symbols match, both tiles are removed from the board, and a point is awarded. If the symbols do not match, both tiles flip back to their hidden state after a brief delay. The player must remember the positions of previously revealed symbols to make successful matches. The game imposes a turn limit or a countdown timer per level, displayed in the upper corner of the interface. A progress bar shows the percentage of tiles cleared. Special tiles, marked with a glowing border, appear in later levels; matching these tiles removes an adjacent row or column of tiles. The player can pause the game at any time by pressing the Escape key or a dedicated on-screen button, which also provides access to the settings menu for adjusting volume and display options. The game does not include a tutorial; all mechanics are introduced through contextual prompts that appear at the start of each new level. The interface is minimal, with no on-screen instructions beyond the tile grid and status indicators.
