SparrowElimination is a single-player, top-down shooter video game developed by independent studio Redshift Interactive and released on personal computer platforms in 2023. The game is set in a procedurally generated urban environment where the player character, a specialized pest control operative, is tasked with reducing the population of an invasive, aggressive avian species known as the Sparrow. The narrative premise is presented through brief, text-based mission briefings, which frame the sparrows as a bio-engineered threat that has overrun a series of abandoned city districts. The game’s visual style employs a muted, desaturated color palette with high-contrast neon highlights on enemy weak points and environmental hazards. The core loop involves navigating destructible, multi-level structures, locating sparrow nests, and eliminating all avian targets within a time limit. The game features a dynamic difficulty system that scales the number, speed, and resilience of sparrows based on player performance. A scoring system awards points for precision shots, chain eliminations, and minimal collateral damage to the environment. The game includes a persistent upgrade system where accumulated points unlock new weapon modifications and passive abilities between missions. SparrowElimination does not include a multiplayer component or a narrative campaign beyond the mission structure.

The player controls the operative from a fixed overhead perspective. The mouse controls aiming and firing. The left mouse button fires the primary weapon. The right mouse button activates a secondary weapon or ability, such as a short-range area-of-effect blast or a temporary speed boost. The scroll wheel cycles through available secondary equipment. The keyboard controls movement. The W, A, S, and D keys move the operative forward, left, backward, and right relative to the screen. The spacebar performs a quick dodge roll that provides a brief window of invulnerability. The E key interacts with objects, such as opening doors or collecting ammunition from fallen sparrows. The R key reloads the current weapon. The Q key deploys a decoy device that attracts nearby sparrows for a short duration. The Tab key displays the mission timer and current score. The Escape key pauses the game and opens the menu. The game interface includes a health bar in the upper left corner, an ammunition counter for the primary weapon in the lower right, and a minimap in the upper right that highlights sparrow nest locations and the operative’s position. The player must eliminate all sparrows in a zone before the timer expires to complete a mission. Failure results in a mission restart from the beginning of the current zone.
