Description
Racing Truck Difference is a vehicular puzzle game developed by a small independent studio, released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game combines elements of a racing simulation with a spot-the-difference puzzle mechanic. The player controls a large truck navigating a series of linear tracks, each presented as a static, side-scrolling image. The primary objective is not to finish first but to identify and interact with visual discrepancies between the truck’s current environment and a reference image displayed in a corner of the screen. These differences include missing cargo, altered road signs, changed weather effects, or swapped vehicle parts. The game features 50 levels, each with a time limit and a set number of differences to find. The truck’s movement is restricted to forward and backward scrolling along the track, and the player must stop at the exact location of a difference to click on it. Successful identification adds time to the clock, while incorrect clicks deduct time. The game includes a single-player campaign and a two-player cooperative mode where each player controls a separate truck on the same track. The visual style is cartoonish but detailed, with a focus on clear, distinguishable objects. The soundtrack consists of ambient engine noises and a looping, low-tempo electronic score.
Instructions
The game is controlled via keyboard and mouse on PC or touch input on mobile devices. The truck moves forward by holding the right arrow key or swiping right, and backward by holding the left arrow key or swiping left. The speed is constant and cannot be adjusted. To identify a difference, the player must stop the truck directly in front of the altered object. A magnifying glass icon appears on the screen when the truck is within range. The player then clicks or taps the object. A correct selection triggers a brief animation and a sound effect, and the difference is marked as found. An incorrect selection results in a red flash and a five-second time penalty. The reference image is displayed in the upper-left corner of the screen and can be enlarged by pressing the spacebar or tapping a zoom button. The game interface includes a timer at the top center, a difference counter on the right, and a pause menu accessible via the Escape key or a pause button. In two-player mode, each player uses separate halves of the screen, with independent controls and timers. The game does not include a tutorial; all instructions are presented as text prompts on the loading screen.
