Description
Puzzle Sliding Kittens is a digital puzzle game developed for mobile platforms and personal computers. The game combines the classic mechanics of a sliding tile puzzle with a thematic presentation featuring cartoon-style kittens. The objective is to rearrange a scrambled grid of image tiles to form a complete, coherent picture of a kitten. Each tile displays a fragment of the larger image, and one tile position is left empty to allow movement. The game offers a selection of different kitten images, each serving as a distinct puzzle. Difficulty levels are determined by the grid size, commonly ranging from a 3x3 grid (9 tiles) to a 5x5 grid (25 tiles). The game tracks the number of moves made and the time elapsed to complete each puzzle. No in-game narrative or character progression exists; the sole focus is on spatial reasoning and pattern recognition.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based on the standard sliding puzzle format. The player interacts with a grid of square tiles, one of which is a blank space. The player selects an adjacent tile to slide it into the empty space. This action shifts the position of the selected tile and creates a new empty space. The goal is to manipulate the tiles until all are in their correct positions, revealing the full kitten image. On touchscreen devices, the player taps or swipes a tile directly to move it. On a computer, the player clicks on a tile with a mouse cursor to slide it. The game interface includes a move counter and a timer displayed on the screen. A shuffle button randomizes the tiles at the start of a new puzzle. A preview button allows the player to view the completed image for reference. The player can select a new image or change the grid size from a main menu. No additional power-ups, scoring multipliers, or special moves are present. The game ends when the final tile is placed correctly, at which point the timer stops and the move count is displayed.
