Description

Put The Candy is a digital puzzle game released in 2023 by independent developer Studio Gumball. The game presents a series of static, two-dimensional scenes, each depicting a container such as a jar, a box, or a basket. The objective is to place a specified number of candy pieces into the container. The candy pieces are represented as simple, colorful geometric shapes, including spheres, cubes, and cylinders. The container is shown from a fixed isometric perspective, with its interior partially visible through a transparent or cutaway wall. The game does not feature a narrative, characters, or a scoring system. Each level is self-contained and presents a unique spatial arrangement of obstacles within the container, such as partitions, ledges, or narrow openings. The challenge lies in determining the correct sequence and orientation for inserting the candy pieces so that they fit without overlapping or exceeding the container’s boundaries. The game includes 120 levels, with difficulty increasing through more complex container shapes and a greater number of candy pieces. The visual style is minimalist, with flat colors and no textures. Sound effects are limited to a single click sound upon successful placement and a soft chime upon level completion. The game is available on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms.

Instructions

Gameplay is controlled entirely through a mouse or touch input. The player selects a candy piece from a palette displayed at the bottom of the screen by clicking or tapping on it. The selected piece then follows the cursor or finger. The player moves the piece over the container and clicks or taps again to drop it. The game uses a physics simulation to determine the final resting position of the piece within the container. Pieces will fall, slide, and stack based on gravity and collision detection. The player cannot rotate pieces manually; the game automatically orients each piece to its most stable position upon contact with the container floor or other pieces. A level is completed when all candy pieces from the palette have been placed inside the container without any piece protruding above the container’s rim. If a piece is placed incorrectly, such as outside the container or causing an overflow, the player can undo the last placement by clicking an undo button in the top-left corner. The player can also restart the level at any time using a restart button. There is no time limit or move limit. The game provides no hints or tutorials beyond the initial level. The interface displays the current level number and the number of pieces remaining to be placed.
