Description
Push The Frog is a digital puzzle game developed by an independent studio and released in 2023 for mobile platforms and personal computers. The game presents a minimalist visual style, featuring a single frog character placed on a grid-based board composed of floating tiles. The objective is to guide the frog to a designated goal tile by manipulating the environment. The frog itself does not move autonomously; instead, the player alters the position of the tiles beneath it. Each level presents a unique arrangement of tiles, some of which are stationary, while others can be shifted horizontally or vertically. Obstacles such as gaps, water hazards, and immovable blocks restrict movement. The game includes a level editor, allowing users to create and share custom puzzles. The soundtrack consists of ambient electronic tones that change in response to the frog’s proximity to the goal. The game has been noted for its increasing difficulty curve, with later levels requiring multi-step planning and spatial reasoning.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based entirely on tile manipulation. The player does not directly control the frog. Instead, the player selects a movable tile adjacent to the frog by clicking or tapping on it. Once selected, the tile can be dragged in one of four cardinal directions (up, down, left, right) using a mouse or touch input. The frog remains on its current tile until a tile it occupies is moved. When a tile is pushed, the frog moves with it. The frog cannot be moved onto a tile that is already occupied by an obstacle or a gap. If the frog is pushed over an edge or into a water tile, the level resets from the beginning. The goal tile is marked with a distinct color or icon. Reaching the goal tile by moving the frog onto it completes the level. The game provides an undo button to reverse the last move, and a reset button to restart the current level. Keyboard controls are available on PC: arrow keys select adjacent tiles, and the spacebar confirms a push. The interface displays a move counter and a timer for each level, though these do not affect scoring.
