Description
Posing Puzzle is a digital puzzle game developed by independent studio Nook Games, released in 2023 for PC and mobile platforms. The game presents a series of static, three-dimensional dioramas depicting everyday scenes, such as a park bench, a kitchen counter, or a library reading nook. Each diorama contains a set of humanoid mannequins, each initially positioned in a neutral, default stance. The objective is to manipulate the limbs and torso of each mannequin to recreate a specific, target pose shown in a reference image displayed on the screen. The game does not feature a narrative or characters; its focus is purely on spatial reasoning and anatomical articulation. The dioramas are rendered in a minimalist, low-poly art style with flat colors and soft lighting, emphasizing clarity of form over realism. The game includes over one hundred levels, organized into thematic chapters, with increasing complexity in both the number of mannequins and the intricacy of the required poses. A built-in hint system provides incremental nudges toward the correct joint angles. The game tracks completion time and the number of adjustments made per level, offering a star rating system based on efficiency.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based on direct manipulation of the mannequin’s joints. Each mannequin is composed of rigid segments connected by spherical joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. The player selects a joint by clicking or tapping on it. Once selected, the joint is highlighted, and the player can rotate the attached limb along three axes by dragging the mouse or a finger across the screen. A virtual trackball interface allows for free rotation in any direction. The camera can be orbited around the diorama by holding the right mouse button and dragging, or by using a two-finger swipe on touchscreens. The camera can also be zoomed in and out using the scroll wheel or a pinch gesture. A reference image of the target pose is displayed in a fixed corner of the screen and can be toggled to full-screen view. The player can also toggle a wireframe overlay that shows the skeletal structure of the mannequin, aiding in precise alignment. A reset button returns the selected mannequin to its default pose. The level is completed when all mannequins match the target pose within a tolerance of five degrees per joint. A progress bar indicates the overall accuracy of the current configuration.
