Gameplay in Phantom is structured around non-linear infiltration missions. The player navigates each level from a first-person perspective, with the primary objective being to reach a designated terminal, extract data, and exfiltrate without detection. The player character possesses a limited stamina meter for sprinting and a crouch toggle for reducing noise and visibility. A key mechanic is the "Shadow Gauge," a visual indicator on the HUD that shows the player's current level of concealment based on ambient light and distance from light sources. The player can interact with the environment by pressing the interact key (default: E on keyboard, X on controller) to open doors, disable cameras, or hack simple electronic locks via a timed mini-game. The player carries no firearms; the only offensive tool is a non-lethal "EMP Dart" (fired from a wrist-mounted launcher, key: Q) that temporarily disables electronics and stuns human enemies for a short duration. Movement controls are standard for the genre: W/A/S/D for movement, mouse or right analog stick for looking, Space to jump, and Shift to sprint.
