Description
MahjongPeng is a digital adaptation of a traditional Chinese tile-based game, developed for single-player and local multiplayer modes on personal computers and mobile platforms. The game simulates the classic Mahjong solitaire variant, where the objective is to clear a board of 144 tiles by matching pairs. The tiles are arranged in a layered, pyramid-like structure, and only tiles that are free on at least one side (left or right) and not covered by other tiles can be selected. The game features a standard set of Mahjong tiles, including suits of bamboos, characters, dots, honor tiles (winds and dragons), and flower/season tiles. The digital interface presents a top-down view of the tile layout, with a timer and a score counter displayed in the corner. MahjongPeng includes multiple board layouts, ranging from simple to complex, and offers a shuffle function to rearrange tiles when no valid moves remain. The game does not include any narrative or character elements; its focus is solely on pattern recognition and strategic tile removal.
Instructions
Gameplay in MahjongPeng is controlled entirely through mouse or touch input. The player selects a tile by clicking or tapping on it. A selected tile is highlighted. To remove a pair, the player selects a second tile that is identical to the first. Both tiles must be free: a tile is considered free if it has no tile directly to its left or right and no tile stacked on top of it. The game automatically removes the pair if the conditions are met. If the two selected tiles do not match, the first tile is deselected. The player can deselect a tile by clicking on an empty area or selecting a different tile. The interface includes a button to shuffle the remaining tiles, which can be used once per game or after a cooldown period, depending on the settings. A hint button highlights one possible valid pair. The game ends when all tiles are removed, resulting in a win, or when no further moves are possible, resulting in a loss. The score is calculated based on the time taken and the number of moves made. The game can be paused at any time via a dedicated button. No keyboard shortcuts are required for standard play.
