Description
Lift The Girl is a physics-based puzzle game developed by a small independent studio. The game presents a series of two-dimensional levels, each containing a stationary girl character positioned at a specific location. The primary objective is to transport the girl from her starting point to a designated exit portal, which is often elevated or separated by obstacles. The core mechanic involves the player manipulating a set of ropes, pulleys, and counterweights to create a lifting mechanism. The girl does not move independently; all motion is derived from the player’s construction of a functional system. The game’s environment consists of static platforms, walls, and anchor points. The visual style is minimalist, with flat colors and simple geometric shapes. No narrative or character dialogue is present. The game is available on multiple platforms, including mobile devices and personal computers. The difficulty increases through the introduction of new elements such as moving platforms, fragile surfaces, and limited rope lengths. The game does not feature a time limit or scoring system; the only metric is successful completion of each level.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based entirely on a point-and-click or touch interface. The player interacts with the game world by selecting anchor points and drawing rope segments. To begin, the player clicks or taps on a designated anchor point, which is typically a circular node on a wall or ceiling. A rope segment is then drawn by clicking a second point, creating a straight line between the two. The rope is automatically tensioned and can support weight. The girl can be attached to a rope by clicking on her character and then clicking on a rope segment. Once attached, the girl will hang from that point. To lift the girl, the player must create a system of counterweights. A counterweight is created by clicking on a rope segment and then clicking on an empty space; a weight block appears and is attached to the rope. The weight block falls due to gravity, pulling the rope and lifting the girl if the weight is sufficient. The player can also create pulleys by clicking on a rope segment and selecting a pulley icon from a small menu. A pulley redirects the rope’s direction. To cut a rope, the player clicks on the rope segment and selects the cut option. The girl can be detached from a rope by clicking on her and then clicking on a solid platform. The exit portal is activated when the girl is placed directly on top of it. The game provides a reset button to return the level to its initial state. No keyboard shortcuts are used; all actions are performed through mouse clicks or touch gestures.
