Description

Khafre Antique Solitaire is a digital card game released in 2023, developed by the independent studio Silver Lining Games. The game is a single-player adaptation of the classic Klondike solitaire, distinguished by its thematic presentation centered on the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt, specifically the reign of Pharaoh Khafre. The software is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms through digital distribution services. The game’s visual design emulates the aesthetic of papyrus scrolls and carved stone, with card faces featuring hieroglyphic symbols and Egyptian iconography. The background depicts a stylized view of the Giza plateau, including the pyramid of Khafre. The audio track consists of ambient recordings of wind and distant string instruments, intended to evoke a historical atmosphere. The game includes a single-player campaign mode with 100 pre-arranged deals, each labeled with a historical or mythological reference. A scoring system tracks moves and time, with a leaderboard for comparing results. The game does not include multiplayer functionality, microtransactions, or advertisements. It is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

Instructions

Gameplay follows the standard rules of Klondike solitaire. The objective is to move all 52 cards to four foundation piles, one for each suit, arranged in ascending order from Ace to King. The tableau consists of seven columns, with the first column containing one card, the second containing two, and so on up to seven. Only the top card of each column is face-up. Cards in the tableau are built in descending order and alternating colors. A single card or a sequence of cards in correct order can be moved between columns. Empty tableau columns can be filled only with a King or a sequence starting with a King. The stock pile, located in the upper left, provides additional cards. Clicking the stock pile deals one card to the waste pile, from which the top card can be played to the tableau or foundation. The game allows unlimited redeals of the stock pile. Controls are executed via mouse or touch input. Left-clicking a card selects it; a second left-click on a valid destination moves it. Right-clicking a card automatically sends it to its foundation pile if the move is legal. The interface includes buttons for undo, restart, and pause. A settings menu adjusts volume and card back designs. The game saves progress automatically after each move.
