Description
Hidden Object Rooms Exploration is a point-and-click puzzle game developed by independent studio Silver Lining Games, released in 2023 for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms. The game presents a series of static, richly detailed interior environments—such as abandoned libraries, cluttered attics, and vintage hotel lobbies—each rendered in a hand-painted, isometric perspective. The core objective requires the player to locate a predefined list of objects hidden within each room. These objects are often partially obscured, camouflaged against similar backgrounds, or integrated into the room’s decorative elements. The game features over 100 levels, each with a unique room layout and a set of 12 to 20 hidden items. A scoring system tracks completion time and accuracy, with penalties for incorrect selections. The game includes a hint system that reveals the location of one random object per use, with a cooldown period. No narrative or character progression exists; the experience is purely focused on visual search and pattern recognition. The game supports multiple language localizations and offers a minimalist interface with no background music, only ambient sound effects like ticking clocks or distant rain.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are executed entirely through mouse or touch input. On a computer, the player moves the cursor over the displayed room image. Clicking on an object that matches an item on the current list removes that item from the list and produces a brief visual confirmation, such as a sparkle or a checkmark. Clicking on an incorrect area results in a time penalty of five seconds added to the overall timer. The player can zoom in on specific sections of the room by scrolling the mouse wheel or using a pinch gesture on touchscreens. A magnifying glass icon in the lower right corner activates a temporary highlight mode, revealing all hidden objects for three seconds, usable once per level. The hint button, represented by a lightbulb icon, is located in the top toolbar; pressing it causes a faint glow to appear around one uncollected object. The game’s menu allows the player to pause, restart the current level, or return to the level selection screen. On mobile devices, the interface adapts to portrait orientation, with the object list displayed as a scrollable column on the left side of the screen. The game saves progress automatically after each completed room. No keyboard shortcuts are available; all interactions rely on direct pointing and clicking.
