Description
Hexa Tile Trio is a digital puzzle game developed for mobile platforms and released in 2023. The game presents a hexagonal grid board onto which players must place sets of three connected hexagonal tiles, known as trios. Each trio is composed of three distinct colors, and the objective is to fill the board completely without leaving gaps. The game draws inspiration from classic tile-matching and block-puzzle genres, but introduces a unique constraint: every placed trio must be adjacent to at least one previously placed trio, forming a continuous chain. The board size is fixed at a 7x7 hexagonal grid, providing 49 cells. The game features a single-player mode with a scoring system based on the number of trios placed consecutively without error. There is no time limit, and the game ends when no valid placement for a given trio remains. The visual design uses flat, minimalist graphics with high-contrast colors to distinguish tile types. The game includes a leaderboard system that records the highest scores locally. No in-game purchases or advertisements are present in the base version.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are executed entirely through touch input on a touchscreen interface. The player is presented with a single trio of three hexagonal tiles at the bottom of the screen. Each tile in the trio is colored one of three possible colors: red, blue, or yellow. The player must drag the entire trio onto the hexagonal grid. The trio can be rotated by tapping a rotation button located to the left of the trio display. Rotation occurs in 60-degree increments, allowing the trio to fit into different orientations on the grid. The trio can also be flipped horizontally by tapping a flip button to the right. Once the trio is positioned over a valid set of three empty adjacent hexagons, the tiles snap into place and lock. The trio cannot be placed if any of its three tiles would overlap an occupied cell or extend beyond the grid boundaries. After placement, a new trio appears automatically. The player continues placing trios until the board is full or no valid placement exists for the current trio. If the board becomes full, the game registers a perfect score. If no placement is possible, the game ends, and the final score is displayed. The interface includes a pause button in the top-right corner, which halts gameplay and provides options to restart or quit. No other controls or menus are present during active play.
