Description

GoldPuzzle is a single-player logic puzzle video game developed by independent studio Numinous Games and released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile devices. The game presents a minimalist, abstract visual environment consisting of a flat, neutral-colored grid. The core objective is to manipulate a set of golden, geometric tiles to form a specific, predetermined pattern displayed in a separate reference window. Each level introduces a unique target shape, ranging from simple polygons to complex, interlocking configurations. The game contains no narrative, characters, or time limits. Progression is linear, with difficulty increasing through the addition of more tiles and more intricate target patterns. The game’s aesthetic is defined by clean lines, a muted color palette, and ambient, non-intrusive sound design. GoldPuzzle is designed to be a meditative, purely mechanical exercise in spatial reasoning and pattern recognition.

Instructions

Gameplay and controls are based entirely on tile manipulation. The player interacts with the grid using a pointing device or touch input. Each golden tile can be selected by clicking or tapping on it. Once selected, a tile can be dragged to any adjacent empty cell on the grid. Tiles cannot be rotated or flipped; they maintain their original orientation. The player may also swap the positions of two tiles by dragging one tile onto another. A tile cannot be placed on a cell already occupied by another tile unless a swap is performed. The reference pattern is displayed in a small, persistent window in the upper right corner of the screen. The player must arrange all tiles to exactly match the reference pattern’s shape and orientation. The game provides no hints, undo functions, or move counters. A level is completed when the arrangement of tiles perfectly matches the reference pattern, at which point the grid briefly flashes and the next level loads automatically. The interface consists solely of the grid, the reference window, and a level counter in the lower left corner. No menu, settings, or pause function is present during gameplay.
