Description

Frog Feast is a 2005 action game developed by Raptor Software for the Microsoft Windows operating system. The game is a single-player title that tasks the player with controlling a frog character across a series of levels. The primary objective is to capture and consume a specified number of flies within each stage to progress. The game presents a top-down perspective of a 2D environment, typically featuring a green, marshy landscape with obstacles such as water hazards and walls. The frog character is depicted as a simple, cartoonish amphibian. The game’s visual style is basic, utilizing low-resolution sprites and a limited color palette. Sound effects include a croaking noise for the frog and a buzzing sound for the flies. The game does not feature a narrative or a story mode beyond the sequential level progression. Frog Feast was released as a freeware title and is notable for its minimalistic design and straightforward gameplay loop.

Instructions

The player controls the frog using the keyboard. The arrow keys are used for movement in four cardinal directions: up, down, left, and right. The frog moves at a constant speed across the playfield. The spacebar is the primary action key, used to extend the frog’s tongue to capture flies. The tongue has a fixed range and can only target flies within a direct line of sight. The player must position the frog so that a fly is directly in front of it before pressing the spacebar. A successful capture results in the fly being consumed and added to the level’s required count. The player must avoid touching water tiles, as contact with water results in an immediate loss of a life. The game provides three lives per session. Collision with walls or other static obstacles simply prevents movement. The game ends when all lives are lost or when the player completes all levels. There is no pause function or save feature. The interface displays the current level number, the number of flies remaining to be caught, and the remaining lives in the top-left corner of the screen.
