Description
Find Ghost is a single-player or cooperative digital game released in 2023, developed by independent studio Spectral Logic. The game is classified as a paranormal investigation simulation with puzzle and stealth elements. The player assumes the role of a paranormal researcher tasked with documenting and identifying a spectral entity within a procedurally generated, abandoned Victorian-era mansion. The objective is not to defeat the ghost but to gather sufficient evidence to classify its type and history. The game world is rendered in a muted, high-contrast visual style, with dynamic lighting that shifts based on the ghost’s proximity. Audio design is central to the experience, with ambient creaks, whispers, and environmental sounds serving as primary cues for the ghost’s location and mood. The game features a non-linear narrative, with clues about the ghost’s origin scattered across rooms, diaries, and objects. Each playthrough generates a different ghost type, with unique behaviors and weaknesses, ensuring replayability. The game does not include combat; failure occurs when the ghost becomes hostile and drains the player’s sanity meter to zero, resulting in a game over. The game supports a maximum of two players in local cooperative mode, where each player controls a separate investigator with distinct equipment.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are structured around exploration, evidence collection, and evasion. The player navigates the mansion using a third-person perspective with a fixed camera angle. Movement is controlled via the left analog stick or W, A, S, D keys. The right analog stick or mouse controls the camera and a flashlight beam. The player carries three primary tools: an EMF reader, a digital voice recorder, and a spectral camera. The EMF reader is activated by pressing the E key or the right bumper; it displays a numerical reading from 0 to 5, with higher numbers indicating closer ghost activity. The voice recorder is toggled with the Q key or the left bumper; it records ambient audio, which can be analyzed post-session for electronic voice phenomena. The spectral camera is used by pressing the F key or the A button; taking a photo of the ghost during a visible manifestation adds evidence to the player’s log. The player must also manage a sanity meter, displayed as a bar in the upper-left corner. Sanity decreases when the ghost is nearby or when the player remains in darkness. Sanity is restored by standing near lit candles or using a sanity pill, accessed via the inventory menu with the Tab key or the start button. The ghost’s behavior is influenced by the player’s actions; speaking into a microphone (real-world voice input, toggled with the V key) can provoke the ghost but also provides evidence. The game ends when the player collects three pieces of evidence matching a ghost type from the in-game encyclopedia, then exits the mansion through the front door.
