Description
Dino Jump Game is a side-scrolling endless runner video game developed by independent studio Pixel Burrow and released in 2023 for mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and web browsers. The game features a pixel-art aesthetic and a minimalist design, drawing visual inspiration from early 8-bit platformers. The player controls a small, bipedal dinosaur navigating a procedurally generated prehistoric landscape. The core objective is to survive for the longest possible distance while avoiding obstacles such as cacti, pterodactyls, and fissures in the terrain. The game world scrolls horizontally at a gradually increasing speed, with no predetermined endpoint. The dinosaur’s movement is restricted to a single vertical plane, with no ability to move left or right. The game tracks the player’s highest score, measured in meters traveled, and displays it on a persistent leaderboard. No in-game purchases or advertisements interrupt the core gameplay loop. The sound design consists of a single looping chiptune track and a distinct, low-fidelity sound effect for each jump and collision. The game has been noted for its low system requirements and instant load times.
Instructions
The player interacts with the game through a single input method: a tap or click. On touchscreen devices, tapping anywhere on the screen causes the dinosaur to perform a jump. On a keyboard, pressing the spacebar or the up arrow key executes the same action. The jump height and duration are fixed; holding the input does not alter the trajectory. The dinosaur can perform a second jump while airborne, known as a double jump, by tapping again before landing. The double jump is the only advanced technique available. The game does not feature a pause menu; the session ends immediately upon collision with any obstacle or the ground after falling into a fissure. After a collision, a results screen displays the distance traveled and the current high score. The player can restart the game by tapping or pressing any key. There are no difficulty settings, power-ups, or character upgrades. The only variable is the increasing scroll speed, which resets to its base value upon each restart. The interface displays two numbers in the upper corners of the screen: the current distance on the left and the high score on the right. No tutorial or instruction screen is provided; the control scheme is learned through immediate trial and error.
