Description

Cosmic Sprint is a single-player and local multiplayer racing video game developed by independent studio Nebula Forge and released in 2023 for personal computers and select home consoles. The game is set in a fictional, procedurally generated sector of deep space known as the Rift Corridor. Players control small, agile spacecraft called Runners, which are piloted by a diverse roster of alien characters. The primary objective is to complete high-speed races across hazardous, non-linear tracks that float in zero-gravity environments. Tracks are composed of translucent energy tubes, asteroid fields, and gravitational anomalies. The game features a career mode with a narrative focused on a galactic tournament, a time trial mode, and a split-screen versus mode for up to four players. Visual design emphasizes neon-lit craft trails against dark cosmic backdrops, with a synthesized soundtrack that adapts to race intensity. The game does not include a traditional physics simulation; instead, it uses a momentum-based movement system that prioritizes drift and boost management.

Instructions

Gameplay in Cosmic Sprint is controlled through a standard gamepad or keyboard. The primary movement is governed by the left analog stick or arrow keys, which direct the Runner’s heading in three-dimensional space. The right trigger or the spacebar activates the primary thrust, which accelerates the craft forward. The left trigger or the shift key applies a brake, which also initiates a controlled drift that allows the craft to slide around tight corners without losing forward momentum. A dedicated boost button, mapped to the A button or the E key, consumes a limited energy gauge to provide a temporary speed increase. This gauge recharges passively when not boosting. The game includes a single active ability per character, activated by the B button or the Q key, which can create a short-range shockwave, a temporary shield, or a speed-draining tether. Collision with track walls or obstacles causes a brief stun and a reduction in speed, but does not result in destruction. The interface displays a speedometer, a lap counter, a position indicator, and a minimap showing the track layout and nearby opponents. The camera is fixed behind the player’s craft in a third-person perspective, with no manual camera control.
