Description

Connect The Satellite is a single-player puzzle and logic game released in 2023 by independent developer Orbital Forge. The game is set in a two-dimensional orbital plane where the player manages a network of inactive communication satellites. The objective is to restore a functional data relay system by connecting these satellites with power and signal cables. Each satellite is represented as a geometric node with a specific number of connection ports, typically ranging from one to four. The game board consists of a grid or free-form space containing these nodes, along with obstacles such as debris fields, solar flares, and dead zones that block or degrade connections. The player must establish a continuous path from a primary power source to a designated target satellite, ensuring that every satellite in the chain receives both power and data flow. The game features a minimalist visual style with a dark space background, neon-colored cables, and subtle particle effects indicating active links. Levels are procedurally generated, offering increasing complexity through additional satellites, limited cable lengths, and time-based constraints. The game includes a scoring system based on the efficiency of the cable layout, with bonuses for using the fewest connections and avoiding crossovers.

Instructions

Gameplay and controls are executed entirely through a mouse or touch interface. The player begins each level by observing the positions of the power source, target satellite, and all intermediate nodes. To create a connection, the player clicks and drags from one satellite’s port to another satellite’s port. A valid connection is indicated by a solid line appearing between the two nodes. The player must ensure that each satellite’s port capacity is not exceeded; attempting to connect more cables than available ports results in a visual warning and the connection is rejected. Cables cannot intersect with obstacles or other cables; if a cable path is blocked, the game highlights the obstruction in red. The player can delete a single connection by right-clicking on it, or clear the entire board with a dedicated reset button. Once all required satellites are linked in a continuous chain from the power source to the target, the level is automatically completed. The game provides a pause function and a hint system that highlights the next logical connection point, though using hints reduces the final score. The interface displays a real-time counter of used cables versus the optimal number, as well as a timer for levels with time limits. No keyboard shortcuts are required; all actions are performed via point-and-click.
