Description
Connect Image is a digital puzzle game released in 2023 for mobile platforms and web browsers. The game presents players with a grid of seemingly unrelated images, each contained within a square tile. The objective is to identify a common theme, concept, or word that links two or more of these images together. The game draws from a library of thousands of stock photographs, icons, and illustrations, covering categories such as objects, animals, actions, abstract concepts, and cultural references. Each puzzle level is procedurally generated to ensure a unique combination of images, though the underlying connections are curated from a predefined database of associative pairs. The game does not include a narrative or character progression; it is a pure logic and pattern-recognition exercise. The interface is minimalist, featuring a clean white background with the image grid centered on the screen. A score counter and a timer are displayed in the upper corners, though the timer is optional and can be disabled in settings. The game supports single-player mode only, with no multiplayer or online leaderboard functionality. The difficulty scales incrementally, with early levels featuring obvious connections (e.g., a picture of a dog and a picture of a bone) and later levels requiring abstract or cultural knowledge (e.g., a picture of a chess piece and a picture of a light bulb representing "strategy").
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based on touch or mouse input. The player is presented with a grid of 16 to 36 image tiles, arranged in a square formation. To make a connection, the player must select two or more tiles by tapping or clicking on them. Selected tiles are highlighted with a colored border. Once the desired tiles are chosen, the player must confirm the selection by pressing a "Connect" button located at the bottom of the screen. If the selected images share a valid connection, the tiles are removed from the grid, and the player earns points based on the number of tiles connected and the time taken. If the connection is incorrect, the tiles are deselected, and a small penalty is applied to the score. The player can also use a "Hint" button, which highlights one tile that belongs to a valid connection, but this reduces the final score for that level. The game does not allow dragging or swiping; all interactions are discrete taps or clicks. The grid can be zoomed in or out using a pinch gesture on mobile or a scroll wheel on desktop. The player can also shuffle the positions of the tiles by pressing a "Shuffle" button, which randomizes the layout without changing the set of images. The game ends when all tiles have been correctly connected or when the timer expires. A summary screen displays the total score, number of connections made, and time elapsed. No additional controls or settings are present beyond these core interactions.
