Description
Colored Maze Puzzle is a single-player logic puzzle video game developed by independent studio Luminance Games and released in 2022 for PC and mobile platforms. The game presents a series of abstract, grid-based mazes where each path segment is assigned a specific color. The core objective requires the player to navigate a cursor or avatar from a designated start point to a finish point, but movement is restricted by a color-matching rule: the avatar can only traverse a path segment if its color matches the current color of the avatar itself. The avatar’s color can be changed by collecting color-switch tokens placed within the maze. Each level introduces a unique combination of colors, obstacles, and token placements, progressively increasing in complexity. The game contains over 100 levels organized into thematic worlds, each with a distinct visual palette and background music. No narrative or character backstory is provided; the game focuses entirely on abstract spatial reasoning and sequential logic. The visual design employs flat, geometric shapes with high-contrast colors to ensure clarity. The game does not include timers, scoring, or competitive elements, emphasizing pure problem-solving.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are executed through a single input method: clicking or tapping. On PC, the player uses a mouse to click on adjacent path segments to move the avatar. On mobile devices, the player taps directly on the desired adjacent tile. The avatar moves one step per click or tap, and only moves to a tile that is directly adjacent (up, down, left, or right) and whose color matches the avatar’s current color. The avatar’s color is displayed as a small circle at its center. To change the avatar’s color, the player must navigate the avatar onto a color-switch token, which appears as a colored square with a circular arrow symbol. Upon contact, the avatar’s color changes to match the token’s color. The game provides a level select screen showing completed and locked levels. Each level includes a restart button in the top-right corner, which resets the avatar to the start position and clears all collected tokens. No undo function is available. The interface displays the current level number and a move counter, though the counter does not affect scoring. The game does not include a pause menu; exiting the level returns the player to the level select screen. No tutorial is provided beyond the first level’s implicit demonstration of the color-matching rule.
