Description
City Banana Man Agent is a single-player action-adventure game developed by an independent studio, released in 2023 for personal computers and select console platforms. The game is set in a fictional, sprawling urban metropolis known as Banana City, where the player assumes the role of a covert operative codenamed "Agent Yellow." The narrative centers on the agent’s mission to dismantle a criminal syndicate that has monopolized the city’s banana trade, using the fruit as a cover for illegal activities. The game world is rendered in a cel-shaded, cartoon-like visual style, with a color palette dominated by yellows, greens, and grays. Environments include crowded marketplaces, industrial warehouses, rooftop pathways, and subterranean tunnels. The protagonist is equipped with a variety of gadgets and weapons, including a grappling hook, a banana-shaped smoke bomb, and a silenced pistol. The game features a branching storyline with multiple endings, determined by player choices during missions and interactions with non-player characters. Enemy types range from street-level thugs to heavily armored enforcers, each with distinct behavior patterns. The soundtrack consists of a synthesized jazz-funk score that adapts to the player’s current stealth or combat status. The game has been noted for its emphasis on vertical movement and environmental interaction.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are structured around third-person perspective movement and context-sensitive actions. The player character can walk, run, and sprint using the left analog stick or W, A, S, D keys. The right analog stick or mouse controls camera rotation and aiming. The primary action button (left mouse button or right trigger) fires the equipped weapon or performs a melee attack when unarmed. The secondary action button (right mouse button or left trigger) activates the grappling hook, which can attach to designated yellow surfaces, allowing the player to swing across gaps or pull objects. The jump button (space bar or A button) enables a standard leap, and pressing it again while near a wall performs a wall jump. The crouch button (C key or left stick click) allows the player to enter a stealth stance, reducing movement noise and detection range. The inventory wheel is accessed via the Tab key or D-pad up, allowing selection of gadgets such as smoke bombs, decoy bananas, and a scanner that reveals enemy patrol routes. Interaction with objects, doors, or civilians is performed with the E key or Y button. The game includes a cover system: pressing Q or the right bumper near a low wall or crate snaps the character into a protected position, from which the player can lean out to shoot. Health is displayed as a segmented bar in the upper-left corner, and regenerates slowly when the player is not taking damage. Mission objectives are listed in a corner of the screen, and a mini-map in the upper-right shows nearby enemies and points of interest. The pause menu, accessed via Escape or Start button, allows saving, loading, and adjusting control sensitivity.
