Description

Card Battle is a digital collectible card game developed by independent studio Nimbus Games, released in 2021 for Windows, iOS, and Android platforms. The game simulates a strategic duel between two players, each commanding a deck of cards representing creatures, spells, and artifacts. The core objective is to reduce the opponent’s health points from a starting value of 20 to zero. Cards are categorized by elemental affinities: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air, each with inherent strengths and weaknesses. A rock-paper-scissors damage modifier system applies, where Fire beats Air, Air beats Earth, Earth beats Water, and Water beats Fire. Matches are turn-based, with each player drawing one card per turn and gaining a fixed amount of mana, which increases by one each turn up to a maximum of ten. The game features a single-player campaign with 30 scripted encounters, a ranked online multiplayer mode, and a daily challenge mode. Players acquire new cards through in-game currency earned from victories or via optional microtransactions. The card pool contains 150 unique cards at launch, with expansions released quarterly.

Instructions

Gameplay proceeds in alternating turns. At the start of a turn, the player draws one card from their deck. Mana is automatically replenished to the current turn’s maximum. The player may play any number of cards from their hand, provided the total mana cost of played cards does not exceed available mana. Cards are played by selecting them from the hand and dragging them onto the battlefield, which is divided into two rows: the front row for creature cards and the back row for support cards. Creature cards have attack and health values; they attack the opponent’s front row creatures at the end of the player’s turn. If no enemy creature occupies the front row, the creature attacks the opponent directly, dealing damage equal to its attack value. Support cards provide temporary buffs, debuffs, or direct damage. The turn ends when the player presses the “End Turn” button. Controls are touch-based on mobile devices and mouse-and-keyboard on PC. On PC, left-click selects a card, right-click cancels selection, and the spacebar ends the turn. The interface displays the player’s hand at the bottom, the opponent’s hand count at the top, health bars on both sides, and a mana crystal counter in the center. A log of recent actions is shown on the left side of the screen. The game provides a tutorial mode that explains these mechanics through five introductory matches.
