Description
Bubbles Fish is a digital puzzle game released in 2012 by developer Tapps Games. The game is set in an underwater environment where the player controls a small fish character. The primary objective involves navigating through a series of increasingly complex mazes filled with obstacles and predators. The fish moves by generating bubbles that propel it forward, a mechanic that simulates buoyancy and limited directional control. The game features a top-down perspective with a 2D graphical style, depicting coral reefs, caves, and open water zones. Each level presents a unique layout of walls, currents, and enemy creatures such as jellyfish and larger fish. The player must collect scattered pearls or reach a designated exit point to progress. The game includes a scoring system based on time and pearls collected, with a leaderboard for comparing results. Bubbles Fish was initially released for iOS and Android platforms, later ported to Windows and macOS. It received moderate critical attention for its simple yet challenging physics-based movement.
Instructions
The player controls the fish by tapping or clicking on the screen. Each tap generates a single bubble behind the fish, which pushes it forward in the direction the fish is currently facing. The fish automatically rotates to face the direction of the last tap. Continuous tapping produces a series of bubbles, accelerating the fish. The player must manage the fish's momentum and turning radius to avoid collisions with walls and enemies. Touching an enemy or a wall results in immediate level failure, requiring a restart from the beginning of that level. The game interface displays a timer, a pearl counter, and a level number in the top corners. A pause button is located in the upper left corner, allowing the player to restart or exit the level. The controls are designed for single-finger or single-mouse-button input. No additional buttons or virtual joysticks are used. The game provides a brief tutorial level that demonstrates the bubble generation and collision mechanics. The player progresses through a linear sequence of levels, each introducing new obstacles or enemy patterns. The game does not include a save feature; progress is automatically recorded after completing a level.
