Description
Blast Bird is a 2014 mobile action-puzzle game developed by the independent studio Rovio Stars. The game is set in a dystopian future where a lone avian protagonist, designated Bird 47, is captured by an industrial corporation known as the Aviary Authority. The narrative follows the bird’s escape from a high-tech facility, using explosive weaponry to destroy obstacles and defeat robotic enemies. The game employs a side-scrolling perspective with 2D hand-drawn graphics, featuring a muted color palette of grays, blues, and oranges. The soundtrack consists of ambient electronic music, with sound effects for explosions and bird chirps. Blast Bird was released for iOS and Android platforms, receiving mixed reviews for its challenging difficulty and unique art style. The game contains 60 levels across three zones, each introducing new enemy types and environmental hazards. No in-app purchases or advertisements are present in the base version, as it is a premium title.
Instructions
Gameplay in Blast Bird is controlled through a single-touch interface. The player taps and holds on the screen to aim a trajectory line from the bird’s position. Releasing the finger fires a projectile that explodes on impact. The bird itself remains stationary at the left side of the screen, while the environment scrolls horizontally. The primary objective is to destroy all target blocks and enemies in each level to open an exit portal. The player has a limited number of shots per level, displayed as a counter in the upper-left corner. Each shot consumes one unit of ammunition, which is replenished only at the start of a new level. The bird can also be moved vertically by swiping up or down on the left side of the screen, allowing for repositioning to access different angles. Enemies include patrolling drones, stationary turrets, and shielded blocks that require multiple hits. The game features a physics engine where debris and explosions can trigger chain reactions, destroying additional targets. A pause button in the upper-right corner allows the player to restart the level or access the main menu. No virtual joystick or button-based controls are present; all interactions rely on touch gestures.
