Description
Bead Route Challenge is a puzzle-strategy video game developed by independent studio Lattice Interactive and released in 2023. The game is available on personal computers and mobile platforms. The core objective involves guiding a single bead through a complex, multi-layered network of tracks, switches, and gates. The player must manipulate the environment to create a continuous, unobstructed path from a starting point to a designated endpoint. Each level presents a static, top-down view of a three-dimensional track system composed of interlocking segments. The bead moves autonomously along the track once the route is activated. The challenge lies in the spatial arrangement of movable track pieces, directional switches, and color-coded gates that require specific sequences of activation. The game features over one hundred levels, each increasing in geometric complexity and the number of interactive elements. A level is completed when the bead reaches the goal without derailing or encountering a dead end. The game includes a level editor, allowing players to design and share custom track configurations. The visual style is minimalist, with a monochromatic bead and track set against a neutral background, emphasizing clarity of the puzzle structure. No narrative or character elements are present; the game focuses entirely on logical pathfinding and spatial reasoning.
Instructions
Gameplay and controls are based on a point-and-click or touch interface. The player interacts with the track system by selecting individual track segments or switches. Each movable track piece can be rotated in 90-degree increments by clicking or tapping on it. Directional switches are toggled between two states, altering the flow of the bead at junctions. Color-coded gates are opened or closed by activating corresponding pressure plates or buttons located elsewhere on the level. The player must plan the sequence of these actions before the bead begins its journey. To start the bead, the player clicks or taps a designated start button. Once in motion, the bead follows the established route at a constant speed. The player cannot alter the track while the bead is moving. If the bead reaches a broken or misaligned segment, it stops, and the level resets. The game provides an undo function to revert the last action and a reset button to return all elements to their initial positions. A level select screen displays progress and the number of moves taken to complete each puzzle. No time limits or scoring systems are present; the only metric is successful route completion. The interface includes a zoom function for inspecting complex track sections and a pan function for navigating larger levels.
