Description

Arrow Shift Logic Tree is a puzzle video game developed by independent studio Nodal Games, released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game presents a series of abstract logic puzzles centered on a branching tree structure composed of nodes and directional arrows. Each level contains a static tree diagram where nodes are connected by paths, and certain nodes display an arrow symbol indicating a required direction of movement. The objective is to rearrange the arrows on the nodes so that a token, starting from a designated root node, can traverse the tree to a specified target node by following the arrows in sequence. The tree’s topology is fixed, but the arrow assignments can be shifted between nodes, creating a combinatorial challenge. The game features over 100 levels, each with increasing complexity, including multi-branch trees, dead ends, and conditional arrow locks. No narrative or characters are present; the focus is solely on deductive reasoning and spatial logic. The visual design is minimalist, using monochrome lines and geometric shapes to represent the tree structure.

Instructions

Gameplay and controls are executed through a point-and-click or touch interface. The player interacts with the tree diagram displayed on a grid. Each node on the tree contains a circular slot that holds an arrow pointing in one of four cardinal directions: up, down, left, or right. The player selects a node by clicking or tapping on it, which highlights the node and its current arrow. To shift an arrow, the player drags the arrow from its current node to an adjacent empty node connected by a path. The arrow cannot be placed on a node that already contains an arrow. The token, represented by a small sphere, is placed at the root node at the start of each puzzle. The player initiates the token’s movement by pressing a “Run” button. The token then moves automatically along the tree, following the direction of the arrow on each node it reaches. If the token reaches the target node, the level is solved. If the token encounters a node with no arrow or reaches a dead end, the run stops and the puzzle resets. The player can undo moves individually or reset the entire arrow configuration. A level select screen tracks completed puzzles and provides a move counter for each solution. No timers or scoring systems are present; the game emphasizes methodical planning over speed.
