Adventure Jungle is a 2D side-scrolling platform game released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The player controls the explorer using the directional pad to move left or right and to crouch. The A button performs a jump, with the jump height determined by the duration the button is held. The B button executes a primary attack using a machete, which has a short range and a brief recovery animation. The Y button uses a secondary item, such as a throwing knife or a flare, which can be collected from defeated enemies or hidden in breakable crates. The X button activates a temporary shield that deflects projectiles for three seconds, with a limited number of uses per level. The L and R buttons do not have assigned functions. The player has a health bar represented by three hearts; contact with enemies or hazards reduces health by one heart. Collecting fruit from trees restores one heart. The game uses a single-life system; upon losing all health, the player must restart the current level from the beginning. The pause menu is accessed with the Start button, allowing the player to view a map of the level and the current inventory of items. The Select button cycles through available secondary items.
