Description
Abduction Protocol is a single-player, first-person stealth-action video game developed by Redshift Interactive and released in 2023 for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is set in a near-future Earth where an extraterrestrial species known as the Collectors has initiated a systematic campaign of human disappearance. The player assumes the role of Elias Vance, a former military intelligence operative who is abducted and subsequently escapes from a Collector harvesting facility. The narrative follows Vance as he infiltrates multiple alien installations across global locations, including a submerged Arctic research station, a desert processing hub, and an orbital mothership. The game’s story is delivered through environmental storytelling, audio logs, and brief radio communications with a fragmented human resistance network. The central conflict revolves around uncovering the Collectors’ biological purpose for human subjects and preventing a mass extraction event. The visual design employs a muted color palette dominated by metallic grays, bioluminescent blues, and organic purples, reflecting the alien technology’s fusion of industrial and biological elements. The sound design emphasizes ambient drones, metallic clangs, and alien vocalizations to build tension. Abduction Protocol received moderate critical reception, with praise for its atmospheric level design and stealth mechanics, but criticism for its linear progression and limited enemy variety.
Instructions
Gameplay in Abduction Protocol is structured around stealth, environmental manipulation, and resource management. The player controls Elias Vance from a first-person perspective. Movement is governed by the left analog stick or W, A, S, D keys. The right analog stick or mouse controls camera aiming. The player can crouch by pressing the left analog stick or the C key to reduce noise and visibility. Sprinting is performed by holding the left analog stick or the Shift key, but generates audible footsteps that alert nearby enemies. A stamina bar depletes during sprinting and regenerates when stationary. The primary objective in each level is to navigate from a starting point to an extraction zone while avoiding or neutralizing Collector patrols. Collectors are divided into three types: Scavengers (basic ground units with visual and audio sensors), Drones (flying units with thermal vision), and Wardens (heavily armored units with sonic detection). The player has a health bar that depletes from enemy attacks and environmental hazards; health is restored by using medkits found in supply caches. The inventory system holds up to four items: a stun pistol (non-lethal, disables enemies temporarily), a decoy emitter (distracts enemies), a hacking tool (disables security doors and cameras), and a cloaking device (renders the player invisible for a limited duration, recharged at power stations). The interface displays a minimap in the upper-right corner showing enemy patrol routes and objective markers. A sound meter in the lower-left corner indicates the player’s current noise level. Interaction with objects is performed by pressing the E key or the X button. The game features a checkpoint save system that activates upon reaching designated safe rooms. No multiplayer or cooperative modes are included.
